Euthanasia

Making the decision to euthanize a beloved pet is not an easy one. It takes time, reflection, and bravery.  At Arvada Veterinary Hospital, we understand that the last appointment can be a very sensitive and stressful time, and we strive to provide the best possible care for you and your pet until the very end. We want you to feel comfortable and supported, and we will do everything we can to help you through such a difficult time.

We offer three types of euthanasia services:

  • Communal Cremation - If you opt to have a communal cremation, your pet will be cremated along with other animals, and its ashes will be spread at the crematorium.
  • Private Cremation - If you would like to have a private cremation performed, your pet will be cremated separately, and its ashes are returned to you in a modest container. We also offer a variety of urns with the option to personalize. Private cremations are 100% guaranteed, and the returned ashes are without a doubt your pet's ashes.
  • Euthanasia Only - If you prefer, you are welcome to take your pet's body home with you. However, keep in mind that it is illegal to bury your pet in Jefferson County. Every county has different laws, so check your local county laws to determine if this is the right choice for you.

Included in every euthanasia is the option to have a clay paw print and/or a lock of hair prepared for you by our staff before your pet is cremated. Both of these services are complimentary, but must be requested at the time of your appointment.
